Senior MP from Srirampur Kalyan Banerjee resigned from the post of Chief Whip of the party in the lower house. He alleged that he was being convicted wrongly for poor coordination between MPs. After Kalyan’s resignation, party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has been appointed as his new leader in the Lok Sabha.
The entire reshuffle occurred amid increasing concerns about chaos in the party’s parliamentary party, including the absence of MPs and public fights. In fact, Mahua Moitra, MP from Krishna Nagar and Kalyan Banerjee, MP from Srirampur, have been going on a war between the last few days.
Recently, in a podcast to a media house, Mahua compared Kalyan Banerjee to a pig. After this, TMC Chief CM Mamata Banerjee held a virtual meeting of the parliamentary party and asked MPs to keep restrained behavior.
However, Kalyan resigned after this. He alleged that he was being convicted for lack of coordination among MPs. Kalyan also accused MP Mahua Moitra of publicly making derogatory remarks.

- I heard the personal comments made by Ms. Mahua in a podcast. His words, including inhuman language, comparing a fellow MP to a pig, is unfortunate. Those who think that abuses can replace, essence, they should look into their politics.
- What kind of hollow it highlights. When a public representative uses abusive and abusive language, it reflects not its strength, but insecurity. Let me say this clearly. I spoke on the questions of public accountability and personal conduct, which every public person should be ready to face- whether it is male or female.
- If these facts are going to be uncomfortable, then it is not appropriate to declare justified criticism as female malice to avoid investigation. It is not courage to call a male colleague sexually frustrated, it is a sheer abuse. If such a language was used for a woman, then outrage would have spread across the country, which is also right.
- But when a man is targeted, he is either ignored or appreciated. One thing is clear- abuses and abuses are abusive- whatever its penis is. Such comments are not only indecent, but they also strengthen a poisonous double criteria, where men are expected to bear quietly, which will never be tolerated when changing roles.
Said to the media- I am also thinking about quitting politics
After the resignation of the Chief Whip of the Parliamentary Party, Kalyan said- “Didi says that the MPs are quarreling. Should I tolerate those who abuse me? I informed the party leadership, but no action took place. On the contrary, I am being blamed. I am being blamed. I am being blamed in my own way. I am so upset about leaving politics.”
