In 2020, there was resentment among the farmers of the state in 2020 due to three agricultural laws in Punjab. Because of this, his alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal was also broken. Even though BJP’s vote percentage increased in the elections held after this, but the seats did not benefit.

But after five years, now the BJP is going to make its entry into the villages with the help of the land pooling policy of the Punjab government. The BJP has decided to start the journey “Save the land, save the farmers” to help the farmers. The yatra will start from Patiala on 17 August and will run till 7 September and will end Pathankot through all 23 districts.
Two seats got only after withdrawing agricultural law
Even though after the peasant movement in Delhi, the central government announced to withdraw the three agricultural laws on 19 November 2021, but even then the BJP did not get a place in the hearts of the people.
In the assembly elections 2022, the BJP fought after separating from the Shiromani Akali Dal. But no candidate other than the then state head Ashwani Sharma, Pathankot and Mukerian, apart from Jangi Lal Mahajan, could win the election. Whereas no candidate from the Punjab Public Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal Joint, who contested with him, could not open their account.
Shambhu border movement caused damage in Lok Sabha elections
After this, when the Lok Sabha elections of 2024 came, the BJP included many big faces in the party. Ravneet Bittu, the grandson of former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader Beant Singh from Ludhiana, was fielded from Ludhiana, while Maharani Parneet Kaur, wife of Captain Amarinder Singh from Patiala, was in the fray.
But at that time, there was a struggle on the Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana on behalf of the United Front Non political on the MSP of crops. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also held big rallies, but the party could not win one of the 13 Lok Sabha seats.

BJP’s third increased party becomes BJP
The BJP contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of its new head and former Congress leader Sunil Jakhar. Even though the party could not win a single seat in this election, but according to the vote percentage, the party reached the third number, which was a step for the BJP leaders.
During this time the Congress won seven seats and the party got 26.30 percent votes. Similarly, the Aam Aadmi Party got three seats and its vote percentage was 26 percent. The BJP could not win any seat, but the vote percentage was 18.56 percent, which reached the third number. The party cast 25 lakh 877 votes in the state. While the Akali Dal got 13.42 percent votes with one seat.

The BJP finished second in 3 out of 13 seats in the state. BJP candidate Ravneet Bittu finished second from Ludhiana. He got 3 lakh 1 thousand 282 votes. Sushil Kumar Rinku from Jalandhar finished second with 2 lakh 14 thousand 60 votes. Dinesh Kumar Babbu finished second in Gurdaspur. He received 2 lakh 81 thousand 182 votes.

This time as soon as the land pooling policy began, the BJP immediately caught this opportunity. BJP leaders attended the all party meeting convened by farmers at Chandigarh Kisan Bhavan on 18 July. He also said that he is ready to support the farmers at every level. Whereas in this meeting, the Aam Aadmi Party kept distance.
