A serious case of negligence in 108 ambulance service came to light in Gajapati district of Odisha late Thursday. Nandini Rait, a resident of Kanikipadar village, suffered childbirth late at night. The family immediately took him to the Chandragiri Community Health Center. During investigation, the doctor did not find the condition of the fetus and referred him to MKCG Medical College, Berhampur.
The driver’s behavior changed after leaving the ambulance at night. The family alleges that he was drunk in large quantities and was driving carelessly. After covering some distance, he stopped the ambulance on the roadside near the village of Anukuta and fell asleep inside. He did not get up despite the family’s attempt to wake up again and again.

The family got nervous after seeing the serious condition of the woman. In compulsion, he rented a private vehicle at night and reached the government hospital in Berhampur. The child was born after surgery there.
The victim lodged a complaint in the police station
The woman’s husband Vijay Rait said that the life of his wife and child was in danger in this incident late at night. In this case, CDMO Gajapati district said that the driver has been removed from service and a complaint has been lodged against him at Parlakehmundi police station. Service has been resumed with the new appointment.
