GNCAP 2023: cars in India with full ratings
Tata Safari / Harrier
Tata Motors’ Safari and Harrier have scored 5-Stars in GNCAP this year. In the adult test, the car got a score of 33.05 out of 34 and in the child safety test, these cars got a score of 45.00 out of 49. Both the cars come with 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control, Corner Stability Control, Brake Disc Wiping, Panic Brake Alert, 3-point seatbelts, ISOFIX child seat mounts and most importantly ‘ Come equipped with ‘Rollover Mitigation’.
Let us tell you that Tata Motors had announced last week that the recently launched facelift models of Harrier (Tata Harrier) and Safari (Tata Safari) have received five stars (Tata 5 Star ratings) from the Bharat-NCAP crash test. With this, both these Tata SUVs have become the first models in India to achieve full score in the newly established New Car Assessment Program (B-NCAP), which includes both adult occupant safety and child occupant safety categories. B-NCAP is India’s own car crash test program, which was launched on October 1, 2023. This program was started to increase the safety standards of cars in India. Under B-NCAP, all cars sold in India will be crash tested. These tests will evaluate three aspects of safety of the cars – Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP) and Safety Assist Systems (SAS).
Hyundai Verna
Hyundai Verna was also included in the list of select cars, which has achieved full rating in Global NCAP. Talking about the score, it has achieved a score of 28.18 out of 34 in the adult safety test and 42.00 out of 49 in the child test. The new Hyundai Verna is no less than anyone in terms of safety. It has more than 30 standard security features and more than 65 total features. The car has 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, three-point seatbelts, speed sensing auto door lock/unlock, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and lane Change indicator included.
Volkswagen Virtus / Skoda Slavia
Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia are similar cars in a way, they get the same engine and both are built on the same platform. However, there are differences in the design and features of both. Both cars have got five stars in GNCAP 2023. Talking about the scores, both have scored 29.71 out of 34 in adult safety test and 42.00 out of 49 in child safety test.
Both these cars also have 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, three-point seatbelts, speed sensing auto door lock/unlock, speed limiter, Isofix child seat anchorages and lane change indicator are included.
