The police have taken major action against fake servants who cheated devotees in Puri, Odisha. Today, on Monday, Puri police arrested 12 people, who were collecting money from the devotees by calling themselves the services of Shri Jagannath temple. Police say that these people are aged 20 to 51 years and were targeting devotees on Baddanda (Grand Road) and Parikrama Road wearing clothes like the sevayatas of the temple.

According to the agency, this gang, which was cheated with the devotees, was active for several months. Especially West Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh were cheating pilgrims coming. On the complaint of the devotees, the police took action and arrested everyone.

The police have recovered 14 mobiles and about Rs 20,000 cash from the accused. The accused have been identified as 24 -year -old Pradeep Kumar Behera, 22 -year -old Balram Bada Panda, 27 -year -old Mahima Prasad Baral, 32 -year -old Manojaran Sahu, 36 -year -old Jagannath Das, 33 -year -old Arjun Prousti, 27 -year -old Jagannath Mishra, 34 -year -old Maheshwar Das, 20 -year -old Santosh Raut, 23 -year -old Sonu Das, 51 -year -old Pradeep Kumar Tripathi and 23 -year -old Sagar. All of them are residents of Puri city.

Police say that a case has been registered against these people. The temple administration and police have advised the devotees to be vigilant and contact only the authorized servants.
