In Ernakulam district of Kerala, a 23 -year -old student committed suicide due to the pressure of conversion and persistent harassment. The deceased has been identified as Sona Aldoj, who lived with his family in Kothamangalam. She was training the teacher. The police have registered a case against his boyfriend Rameez and his family on the basis of suicide note under sections of abetment and assault for suicide.
According to a police officer, on Saturday, Sona was found hanging in a room in his house. The police took his body in possession and sent it for postmortem. After this, in the initial investigation, it was considered a case of unnatural death, but the dramatic turn in the incident came when the police got the victim’s suicide note. In this, Sona has made sensational allegations against her boyfriend and her family.
In the suicide note, Sona wrote that her boyfriend Rameez initially kept giving her assurance of marriage by trapping her in a trap of love, but later she started pressuring to adopt Islam religion for marriage. It is alleged that under this pressure, Rameez’s family was also with him. On refusal, Sona was physically and mentally tortured. The victim’s mother Bindu told that her daughter was truly loved by Rameez.
Pressure was made to change religion for marriage
Rameez himself went to Sona’s house and proposed marriage, which was accepted by the victim’s family. But after some time, Rameez clearly said that marriage will take place only when gold will convert religion. Meanwhile, Rameez’s name came up in a smuggling case, after which Sona and her family refused to marry. Angered by this, Rameez allegedly started harassing Sona.
The victim, saddened by the harassment of Rameez, gave his life
It is alleged that last Saturday, Rameez called Sona on the pretext of meeting and locked him in a room in his house. Pressed for conversion on him. He was beaten up for protesting. Somehow she returned home and informed the family about the incident. After a few hours, he hanged himself and gave his life. The police have taken Rameez into custody and the case is being investigated in depth.
