According to Prasanna, he has four adults and two children in his family, but the rest of the adults are recorded in the voter list in their native village Puchinipadam. He came to know this fake name when he was approached for verification. He said that we do not know any of these. It is not right to add names to our address without our consent. “
CPM activists alleged that other flats of Punkunnam, such as Water Lily and Capital Village, have similar disturbances in the voter list. He claims that votes were transferred from other districts using empty flats, so that voters could be registered on the fake basis of the address.
Opposition allegations and questions on Election Commission
VS Sunil Kumar, CPM leader and former candidate of Thrissur, alleged that the Election Commission allowed irregularities on a large scale in voter registration. He said that 280 applications came together at the same booth and these included people from other constituencies and migrant laborers. According to him, the commission made registration easier using only postcards as proof of address, which made it possible to add fake names.

Thrissur was the only seat in Kerala in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where Suresh Gopi defeated Sunil Kumar of LDF and Muralitharan of UDF. Therefore, the political significance of this fake voting dispute has increased even more.
Opposition leader’s statement and demand for investigation
Opposition leader VD Satishan demanded a thorough investigation into the electoral irregularities and accused the BJP that it incorrectly added votes and weakened independent and fair elections. He appreciated Rahul Gandhi, who raised the issue and called upon the citizens to stand against fascism, autocracy and communalism.
