Priyanka Chaturvedi asked how much implementation that the decision has been taken is. He said, ‘The government does not have a budget. The budget for stray animals is the lowest. Only by issuing a decree will be a crime with those who cannot speak. They cannot present their side. Why such behavior with them? ‘

Earlier, animal rights activist and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi had strongly criticized the Supreme Court order regarding stray dogs in Delhi-NCR on Monday. Maneka termed the direction of the apex court to keep stray dogs in shelter sites “impractical”, “financially inappropriate” and “potentially harmful” for the region’s ecological balance. Maneka said that the complexity of this work makes it “impractical”.

Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi wrote in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, ‘It will be a very inhuman behavior to send all the stray dogs of the city to shelter sites within a few weeks. There is also not enough shelter sites to keep them. The Congress General Secretary said that animals are misbehaved and cruelty in urban environment. Priyanka Gandhi, a member of Lok Sabha from Vayanad, said, ‘There is definitely a better way to handle the situation. Any human way can be discovered in which these innocent animals can be taken care of and they can be protected. Priyanka Gandhi said that dogs are the most beautiful and benign creatures, they are not entitled to such cruel behavior.
What is the order of the Supreme Court?
The Supreme Court on Monday directed that the Delhi government and the municipal bodies of Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad remove all stray animals and keep the shelter sites. A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan said that the problem of rabies in children, especially due to stray dogs, is very serious. The apex court said that the number of shelter sites for dogs would have to be increased over time. The court has directed Delhi authorities to build a shelter for about 5,000 dogs within six to eight weeks.
