Know what is the whole matter?
On July 12, a large -scale eviction campaign was launched in Gwalpada. During that time, the administration drove the bulldozer on the houses of about 1,080 families to vacate the land in the Packan Reserve Forest. On July 17, violent clashes started when the authorities dug up the main road to reach the place where many displaced families were still living.
During this, many people including police and forest personnel were injured. When the police opened fire on the protesters, 19 -year -old Sakovar Ali died and two other persons were injured.
The victim does not trust police investigation
In the letter handed over to the office of the Registrar General of the Guwahati High Court on Tuesday (August 12, 2025), Sakovar Ali’s mother Nachiran Bibi described the firing as unprovoked and highly.
Sakovar Ali’s mother demands independent judicial inquiry
The letter said that the police officers opened fire using excessive and proportionless weapons without provocation. My son is a grocery seller and he went to the spot only with his brother. We do not believe in a fair investigation from the police officers, so I request an independent judicial inquiry.
