This order has been criticized by AIMIM Chief and MP from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi. Describing this order of Telangana Municipal Corporation as unconstitutional, he said that what is the time of August 15 to eat meat

There is also a protest against this decision in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar have also denied this decision of their government as wrong.

Aditya Thackeray said on the decision of meat sales captive- This is our choice as to what to eat and what not on Independence Day. Kalyan-Dombivali General Commissioner does not have the right to interfere in this matter. Instead of imposing vegetarianism on citizens, focus on improving the decaying roads and bad civil services.

The Municipal Corporation of Old Hyderabad City has also ordered the closure of meat shops on August 15, like several other municipal corporations. Closing the meat shop on Independence Day is unconstitutional. He questioned what is the relationship between meat eating and Independence Day?
While 99 percent of the people in Telangana eat meat. Owaisi has described this decision as a decision to violate people’s freedom, privacy, livelihood, culture, nutrition and rights of religion.
Telangana High Court seeks reply The matter has reached the court in Telangana. The Telangana High Court has sought an explanation from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) regarding its order to close beef shops and slaughterhouses on Independence Day.
The petition filed against this order of the Telangana government stated that this order is arbitrary and violates Article 14 (Right to Equality) and Article 19 (1) (G) (right to adopt any profession). High Court Justice Vijaysen Reddy will hear further in this matter.
