Which operation is running suddenly PAK Army? 55 thousand people left home, 72 hours curfew in 27 areas

In Bajaur district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Pakistani Army has started a large-scale operation against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The campaign is mainly running in Loi Mamund and War Mamund Tehsils, which were previously considered a stronghold of TTP.

Recently, after the peace talks with the Taliban commanders failed, a curfew of 12 to 72 hours has been imposed in 27 areas. As a result, about 55,000 people have been displaced and more than 4 lakh people are stranded in homes.

Allegations of human crisis and torture
Awami National Party MLA Nisar Baz alleged in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly that people are not able to go to safe places due to curfew and the army is torturing its own citizens. Many families are forced to spend the night in tents, open grounds and public buildings. Lack of means of traffic and problems of food and water have worsened the situation.

Government claims and relief measures
Officials say that the affected people are being transported to safe places. According to Mubarak Khan Jab, advisor to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, schools have been made a temporary refuge. The district administration has identified 107 educational institutions in Khar tehsil as a relief camp. However, according to ground reports, relief materials and shelter arrangements are not sufficient.

Negotiations failed again, action intensified again
The campaign began on 29 July, but the next day the tribal Jirga was temporarily stopped due to mediation. Despite several rounds of talks, the talks failed on August 2, after which the army resumed the action.

Bajaur and TTP struggle
Bajaur district has been a stronghold of TTP for a long time. The Pakistan Army has already done many operations here, in which thousands of people were displaced. In this time, there are reports of encounter between security forces and terrorists, but allegations of torture and human rights violations on citizens are raising serious questions from the army.
