Mallikarjun Kharge hoisted the tricolor at the Congress headquarters at Indira Bhavan on the occasion of Independence Day.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday alleged that the BJP could go to any extent of immorality to remain in power. He said that many disturbances are coming out in elections across the country.
In the Independence Day speech after hoisting the tricolor at the Congress headquarters at Indira Bhavan, he alleged that the opposition votes are being cut in the name of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, while people are being described as dead.
Referring to the opposition of the Congress over the revision of the Bihar voter list, Kharge said that it is not a fight to win the election, but a fight to protect India’s democracy and the Constitution.
The main things of Kharge’s speech …
On making voter list public- The Election Commission is not ready to explain whose votes are being cut and on what basis. What a fairness of the Election Commission is this. We are grateful to the Supreme Court, which heard the voice of the public and directed the Election Commission to make the voter list public.
BJP accused of misuse of ED-CBI- Central investigative agencies like ED and CBI and Income Tax Department have been so openly used for political purposes against opposition parties that the Supreme Court had to show them a mirror.
There is no friend of India in the world- Where ever we were the voice of all developing countries, today we have no one, nor in the neighborhood nor far away. The dreams that the heroes of independence had dreamed for this country are going away from us today.
On the right to vote- BR Ambedkar said in the Constituent Assembly on 15 June 1949 that the right to vote is one of the most basic things in democracy. Any person who is entitled to join the voter list should not be excluded only due to prejudice.
Constitution formed by Congress’s hard work- After two and a half years of hard work after independence, India got its constitution, which may not be compared to any other constitutional document in the world.
After independence, Congress governments and leaders laid the foundation of a strong India in a long journey of eight decades. The rich-poor, the king-kingdom, men and women, all were given equal rights-one person, one vote, a value.
