Urban Development: Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently said that 35 percent of the country’s total population is now living in cities and by 2047 this number may increase to 50 percent. Keeping this increasing urban population in mind, the National Institute of Urban Development (NIUA) has started the “Capacity for Change” program. The objective of this program is to train lakhs of officers and employees in the field of urban development so that cities can be developed in a holistic and effective manner.
According to the information, in this program of urban development, special attention will be given to redevelopment of old cities, expansion of existing cities and development of new cities. Under this, officers and employees will be given necessary training to establish harmony with modern urban planning, infrastructure improvement, environmental protection and population growth. This program will help in making cities more developed and livable.
New scheme launched to bring changes in urban development
The objective of this program is to bring a big change in the field of urban development. The Minister said that this will improve the standard of urban life and the cities will be made more beautiful, well-organized and better in terms of quality of life. It is believed that this scheme will benefit millions of people in the coming time and the urban areas of India will develop from a new perspective.
Along with the increasing impact of urbanization, new challenges will also emerge such as high population pressure, lack of basic infrastructure and environmental crisis.
