West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while talking to journalists at the state secretariat, announced a new scheme for rehabilitation of migrant laborers. The scheme is named ‘Sramasree’.
The Chief Minister said that the government will provide financial help to the migrant laborers who want to return to Bengal. Under the scheme, they will be given assistance of Rs 5,000 per month for 12 months. This financial assistance will be found until they get employment.

Mamta Banerjee alleged that migrant laborers in BJP ruled states are facing “attacks under well-planned conspiracy”. He said, “About 22 lakh migrant laborers and their families have been harassed in other states, especially in states where there are double engine governments. They are falling victim to planned attacks.”
People are being harassed to speak Bengali language!
The Chief Minister further said that the cabinet has approved the scheme so that the migrant laborers can help in resettling again and they can start their lives afresh. He also said that workers from Bengal in other states are being harassed due to their language.
22 lakh migrant laborers of Bengal are doing work in other states!
Mamta Banerjee said, “She is being declared criminals only because of speaking Bengali. Today, 22 lakh migrant laborers, who are working in other states from West Bengal, are getting upset due to Bengali speaking.”

Mamta Banerjee made it clear that this scheme will be for Bengali migrant laborers only. He said, “The new scheme will start in West Bengal soon. If migrant laborers return to Bengal, they will be given financial assistance of Rs 5,000 for one year. This scheme will be implemented under the Labor Department.”
