Remembering the terrible floods of 1978
Local people are remembering the severe flood of 1978, when the water level of Yamuna reached 508 feet and water came to the Gate of Taj Mahal. At that time many temples were also submerged. Although not so much flood has come yet, the current situation is pointing to danger. At the moment, the Department of Archeology says that there is no threat to the Taj Mahal, as it was built on the high platform and it was designed only keeping in mind the flood.
