Rich in mineral wealth, Odisha is now in discussion about the search for gold. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) has stated in its latest report that gold reserves are present in six districts of the state, Devgarh, Sundargarh, Navrangpur, Keonjhar, Anugul and Koraput.
The Odisha government has indicated that these mines will be auctioned soon. According to Mining Minister Vibhuti Bhushan Jena, this step will be a new opportunity for both the state economy and employment generation.
The search has been completed in the Ads-Ramapalli region of Deogarh district. Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and GSI are preparing for the auction together. There will be the first gold block in Odisha, which will be auctioned. Not only gold, copper, nickel, silver and graphite have also been found here. This means that this area is full of precious minerals.
Similarly, the search for gold is also going on in Gopur-Ghazipur, Mankadachuan and Dimirmunda areas of Keonjhar district. According to the GSI report, it has been clear in the survey so far that more than 20 metric tons of gold is present in six districts. Experts believe that mass mining is possible here.
The government has also clarified that mining work will be done keeping in mind the environmental protection. Modern technology will ensure that natural resources are not damaged.
Gold is not only coincidentally discovered. Rather it is a scientific and technical process. Geologists study rocks and soil structure to find gold.
Gold particles are confirmed in soil and water samples. Magnetic and gravitational methods are assessed the structure inside the ground.
They are drilled in depth and remove samples and examine them. Satellite imaging and drone survey identifies mineral signals on the surface. Only after all these stages, the government allows mining and the mine is auctioned.
These gold mines will strengthen the economy of Odisha. New employment opportunities will be created in the state and the revenue received from mining will give impetus to development works.
Apart from this, it will also contribute to meeting the domestic demand for gold. India imports a large amount of gold every year. If production increases at the domestic level, then dependence on imports will be reduced.
