The US Air Force Chief of Staff announced on Monday (August 18, 2025) that he was going to retire in the coming months. However, he did not give any reason for this. This announcement of General David Allwin is shocking as he will be able to complete only two years in his four -year fixed deployment.
Will retire around 1 November
General Allwin said in a statement, “I am grateful to get an opportunity to serve as the 23rd Air Force Chief of Staff and thank (Airforce) Secretary Mink, Secretary Heddeth and President Trump for the confidence of Trump.” He told that he will retire around 1 November.
It is not clear whether General Allwin has decided to retire by himself or at the behest of Pentagon Leaders like Defense Minister Pete Hedgeh. The office of the Defense Minister has not given any response to this.
Hedgeht removed many military officers
Significantly, Hedesath has removed several senior military officers since taking over in January, including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the US Navy and the Army, Navy and Air Force Judge Advocate General.
