Kerns, South Africa defeated Australia by 98 runs in the first ODI and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. For South Africa first Aidan Markram, Tenbu Bavuma and Matthew Breetjke scored a strong half -century, then Keshav Maharaj took five wickets of Kangaroos on the strength of his spin. The second and decisive match of the series will be held on August 22 in Maikay.

Batting first, South Africa scored 296 runs losing eight wickets. In response, the Australian team was all out for just 198 runs in 40.5 overs. Captain Mitchell Marsh scored 88 off 96 balls. Apart from him, no other batter could stand at the crease.
