Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has strongly opposed the Railways to weigh passengers and collect additional fees. He said that this step is anti -poor and will put further burden on the general public. The former Chief Minister warned, “If this decision is not withdrawn, the public will cut the BJP’s return ticket ahead of time.” Describing the move as “shameful”, he said that this double engine shows the government’s anti -poor policies and failures.
Posting on the social media platform x on Tuesday, Akhilesh Yadav wrote, “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become a huge burden on the public. Now a new chapter of corruption is being opened in the name of weighing the goods of the passengers and recovering money. This decision is against the poor.” He cited a media report in his post.
What did Akhilesh say?
Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav said that this decision will not affect the rich passengers, because they travel in AC First Class. The real problem will be to those poor families and migrant laborers, who travel once or twice a year with grains and necessary goods.
He questioned, “Does the BJP now want to snatch the food of poor farmers and laborers? If the government has to collect money, then recovered the passengers of AC-1 and AC-2 coaches, not the general, sleeper and the poor traveling in AC-3.”
Akhilesh alleged that the railway has been hollowed out due to corruption in the BJP rule. He demanded that BJP MPs and MLAs leave their free travel pass facility before putting a burden on common passengers.
This possible plan, which has become an additional burden for railway passengers, has already warmed politics. Now it has to be seen what the Railways officially takes the stand on this issue.
