Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir got the status of field marshal after the 4 -day war with India. He did not stop here, Munir has become more powerful as the head of the famous institution to topple the governments and run from behind the curtain. His intervention in foreign policy is also clearly visible.
The Pakistani army has been accused of derailing efforts to improve relations with India. Now a big indication about this was seen when US President Donald Trump called Munir for a one-to-one meeting twice within two months.
Munir overtakes his PM during a foreign tour
According to India Today’s Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) team, Munir made more foreign visits to the Prime Minister of Pakistan after Pahalgam terror attack (April). Between 23 April and 14 August, Munir made 9 big diplomatic visits, compared to this, PM Shahbaz Sharif went abroad only 8 times. The special thing is that after the Indo-Pak struggle, Munir went abroad at least 4 times with Sharif, so that ‘friend countries’ can thank them for standing in favor of Pakistan.

Munir’s increasing stature
The Pakistani army has always been powerful, but this time the weaker citizen government, economic crisis and conflict with India have increased Munir’s strength manifold. Experts believe that their anti-Hindu rhetoric can also be the reason for the Pahalgam terror attack. In the second visit to the US on 9 August, Field Marshal Munir met the top military officer, General Daniel Kane. It discussed the “successful counter terrorism partnership” of the US-Pakistan in the region.
Not only this, on June 18, in a 5 -day US tour, Munir became the first Pakistani Army Chief to lunch with President Donald Trump at the White House. Apart from this, Munir also went to China in late July and also visited Turks, Azerbaijan, Iran and Tajikistan in May. Here he thanked the countries supporting Pakistan after India’s Operation ‘Sindoor’.
New twist in relationships with Trump
In the first term, Trump called Pakistan a lie and deception. US officials openly accused Pakistan of promoting terrorism. But now in the second term, the US Army is describing the counter terrorism partnership with Pakistan as “the best”. That is, America-Pakistan relations seem to improve again.
Army’s increasing dominance
Earlier the Pakistani army used to make decisions only from behind the curtain and was rarely seen in the public. But the situation changed after Operation Sindoor. A few days after the ceasefire, the government of PM Sharif made Munir a field marshal from Army Chief. He is the second Army Chief to receive this honor in the history of Pakistan.
The first example was Job Khan during the 1965 Indo-Pak war. Then after 2008, many powerful Army Chiefs came to Pakistan, among them were names like General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, General Raheel Sharif and General Qamar Javed Bajwa, but no one could make his hold as strong as Asim Munir has made today.
