The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has exposed an organized gang supplying expensive mobile phones of international stolen. Three accused were arrested from the East of Kailash area, who used to steal smartphones by targeting passengers in buses and metro trains. 26 mobiles recovered were to be sent to Bangladesh via Kolkata. Even before this, a large consignment of this network has been caught.
A senior police officer said that the arrested accused have been identified as Taj Mohammad (54), Parvesh alias Feroz Khan (42) and Karan alias Om Prakash (30). He was arrested on August 28 from Sri Niwas Puri bus depot. During interrogation, the three took the names of Ajay Negi and Sunny Katta, residents of Sangam Vihar, who are alleged masterminds of this illegal business running internationally.
Police investigation has revealed that this gang used to collect stolen phones from pockets and snatchings in Delhi-NCR. After this, they were transported to the agents present in Kolkata, who used to send phones for Bangladesh buyers and smuggled the West Bengal border. The recovered mobiles have so far been found to be related to 10 different theft and missing cases, including four e-FIRs.
The background of the accused has also surfaced. Taj Mohammad is originally from Barabanki, UP and has studied only till the second grade. After wages, he bowed to the pocket. He has not received any pre -criminal record. Parvesh hails from Munger in Bihar and has studied till seventh. He has been caught in cases of theft three times before. Karan hails from Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Karan left his studies due to his father’s death and started wages after studying till eighth, but soon joined the theft network. There are already 13 criminal cases against him. This gang used to target crowded buses and metro trains. Stolen phones were immediately delivered to the receiver, from where they were prepared for Bangladesh supply.
Let us tell you that on Friday, the police had busted another international mobile theft gang, which used to sell the stolen phone from Delhi in Bangladesh. In that operation, 294 stolen phones worth more than Rs 50 lakh were recovered. The police arrested eight accused from Delhi and Kolkata. It was told that the mastermind of this gang used to sit in Kolkata and operate the network.
DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan had informed that the stolen mobile phones from Delhi were sent to neighboring countries across the Indo-Bangladesh border. A special team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Umesh Yadav to catch this gang. The team arrested Dinesh (52), Rizwan (38), Ravi (30) and Ajay (41) on 27 July. The four accused have already been involved in cases of theft.
