On Monday (August 25, 2025) in Mahadevanagar, Bhubaneswar, a mob attacked 8 migrant laborers from Murshidabad on suspicion of being a ‘Bangladeshi Cattle Chor’. Of the 8 laborers, 36 -year -old Abdul Alim, whose rib and leg were fractured, reached Kashipur village in Bhagbangola on Wednesday (August 27, 2025).
Abdul said that the remaining workers have been admitted to Bhuveshwar AIIMS for treatment. The Bengal police say that she is contacting the Odisha Police for more information. According to reports, the Odisha police did not take any step to calm the crowd.
Beating with bottles, sticks and wood
According to the Times of India report, Abdul Alim was discharged from Murshidabad Medical College Hospital on Saturday. He told, ‘I went to Bhubaneswar for construction work on Sunday. The train was late and we reached our camp at around 11 pm. As soon as I fell asleep, about 15-20 men entered the camp and shouted who are Bangladeshi here? ‘
Abdul further told that he started beating us with bottles, sticks and wood. There were 8 Bengali and 15 Oriya laborers in the camp. Three of Bengali laborers were from Farakka, three Lalgola and one from Ranitla, all live in Murshidabad.
Abdul managed to escape through the forest
He told that when 5 people were beating me with the slogan of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, 2 attackers were standing on me. They snatched my Aadhar card, PAN card, wallet and phone. My lungi and vest were soaked in blood, I somehow escaped through the forest.
Alim further explained that luckily an auto conductor saw me. I called my brother from her phone and the auto driver took me to the hospital. Alim said that his contractor Rabiul Islam and his brother -in -law Julmat Ali admitted him and helped him to offer it to the bus going to Kolkata.
Police signed on plain paper
Alim said that I have been working on different projects outside Bengal since 2013, but never came. The condition of the rest of the people is worse than me. I have heard that the police got them signed on plain paper.
