The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has canceled the mandate of reservation rules implemented in Kannauj, Ambedkar Nagar, Jalaun and Medical College in Saharanpur.
Under the Special Grant Component, more than 79% reservation was being given on admission in four medical colleges of UP. After hearing in the petition filed in the Lucknow bench of the High Court, a single bench of Justice Pankaj Bhatia has ordered to cancel it.
79% reservation was being given in admission in four medical college
Seats under NEET were in reservation under NEET in Kannauj, Ambedkarnagar, Jalaun and Saharanpur medical colleges. There are 340 seats including four colleges. Of these, 248 seats were set for AC, 20 for ST, 44 for OBC and 28 seats for general category.
The four medical colleges had 85-85 seats. The determination of seats for different classes in each of these one was as follows.
AC Class – 62
ST – 5
OBC – 11
Normal 7
The Uttar Pradesh government established the Medical College of Kannauj in the year 2010. In 2011, Ambedkar Nagar Medical College, Jalaun’s Medical College in 2013 and Saharanpur Medical College in 2015 were established.
Reservation system was implemented for special grant
To get a special grant from the center, more than 79 percent reservation was given by shore to 50 percent reservation for admission in all these four medical colleges. The Lucknow bench of the Haikourt canceled the special reservation system for admission to these four medical college after hearing.
A meeting of the Counseling Board has been called on Sunday on the order of the High Court. After the counseling board meeting, the four medical colleges Jalaun, Kannauj Saharanpur and Ambedkar Nagar have been canceled, a decision will be taken on it. The Medical Education Department will take legal opinion on the decision of Lucknow Bench of the High Court.
