Investigation of the Dharmasthal case in Mangaluru, Karnataka has once again intensified. The SIT took the witness and complainant CN Chinnayya arrested in this case early Saturday for ‘Spot Mahajar’ (direct inspection of the incident) at unknown places under tight security. During this action, which started at around 6 am, the team visited the places which were directly related to Chinnayya’s statements. The investigation team also seized several important documents from here.
An SIT official said that due to security reasons, the ‘Spot Mahajar’ process was done in the morning. However, no official information has been shared on the nature of the recovered documents and their importance. Chinnayya had earlier claimed that several bodies have been buried in the Dharmasthal premises. These included the bodies of women and minor girls victims of sexual abuse.
These allegations had raised serious questions on the temple administration, but now the case is constantly taking new turns. Meanwhile, the attitude of Sujata Bhatt, the second complainant of the Dharmasthal case, seems to be completely changing. On Friday, the SIT questioned him for the third consecutive day, in which he expressed his desire to withdraw his complaint. In this complaint, he had said that his daughter disappeared.
He had said that in 2003, his daughter Ananya Dharmasthal mysteriously went missing from the temple complex. But in the interrogation, he changed his own statements and mentioned some new names. According to sources, there is heavy pressure on Sujata. He has become very weak mentally due to continuous inquiries. The SIT has received its statements reversed from the earlier claims.
This deepened the doubt that this whole story was coined. However, police officers have not yet officially confirmed their new revelations. Experts say that even though Sujatha formally withdraws its complaint, the SIT cannot stop its investigation. The reason for this is that the Dharmasthal case has already become part of the judicial process.
It has serious allegations like rape, murder and collective burial. Earlier, SIT investigation was welcomed by Virendra Hegde, Dharmakhri of Dharmasthal. At the same time, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar had also warned that if the allegations of the complainants proved to be false, strict legal action would be taken against him. Now the real truth of this case will expose the intensive investigation of the SIT.
