London: England captain Ben Stokes is on the way to fit for the initial Test of the Ashes series against Australia and he will get a new vice -captain in Australia as Harry Brook.

England’s 16 -member team was announced on Tuesday for the Ashes. The team will be commanded by Stokes, who is recovering from shoulder injury. Due to this injury, he was out of the final Test of the domestic series against India.

The first Test of Ashes will be in Perth from November 21 and England said that Stokes is expected to be available for this.

Brook, who was appointed captain in the recent white ball format of England, will replace Oli Pope as Test Vice Captain who has retained his place in the team.

The fast bowlers also include Mark Wood who returned to the team after recovering from the left knee injury. Fast bowler Matthew Pots has also got a place in the team, who last played Test matches against New Zealand in December. Shoaib Bashir has recovered from finger injury during the India series and is the only expert spinner selected in the team.

Batting all -rounder Will Jax, who played for England’s limited overs team, has been included in the team. Fracture in Jacques Fingers will miss New Zealand’s limited overs tour including three T20s and three ODIs. England, however, has said that their Ashes are expected to be fit on time.
