The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced organizational appointments in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Bihar for the upcoming assembly elections under the leadership of National President JP Nadda. These appointments will be implemented with immediate effect and their aim is to strengthen the party’s electoral machinery in these politically important states.
Actually, BJP often changes the appointments of in-charge in various states. The reason for this is that the party believes that it may be necessary to bring external leadership or a new approach in a state, or if there is more changes in the vote there, a new strategy can be made by bringing external in-charge and the effect of local guts is less.
Bihar assembly election
For Bihar, the BJP has formed a team of strong senior leaders, which will conduct an election strategy. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed in Bihar’s state election in-charge.
Pradhan is an experienced strategist who first played an important role in making a strong penetration of the party in Odisha and ensuring electoral success. Apart from this, in Haryana, he succeeded in keeping the party in power amidst protests from farmers and anti-engineerbancy atmosphere.
With Pradhan, two co-incarnations have also been appointed for Bihar:
CR Patil, Union Water Power Minister, Senior Leader of Gujarat. He is known as a close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Patil is considered a skilled organizer in the party who is capable of maintaining harmony with the central leadership.
Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and head of the party OBC face. Maurya’s ground contact and widespread public relations ability makes him an important part of the electoral strategy in Bihar. His appointment is considered a strategic step to strengthen OBC support in Bihar and spread the BJP’s social inclusion message.
West Bengal Assembly Elections
For West Bengal elections, Bhupendra Yadav has been appointed state election in-charge and Biplab Kumar Deb as co-incorpse.
Bhupendra Yadav, who is currently the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, is a trusted strategist of the party. He also played an important role in the 2020 Bihar assembly elections, where the BJP emerged as the largest party within the NDA alliance. Yadav was appointed to form the party strategy and strengthen machinery on the ground in challenging states like Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Biplab Kumar Deb has served as the in-charge of the party in the former Chief Minister of Tripura and the Haryana assembly elections. Their experience and leadership capacity will be availed in West Bengal as co-incarnation. After the BJP’s victory in Haryana, Deb was given the responsibility of the high-profile parliamentary constituency of New Delhi, where his strategic steps gave the BJP a historic victory.
Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
For the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the BJP has appointed Baijayant Panda as the state election in-charge and Muralidhar Mohol as co-incorpse.
Baijayant Panda, National Vice President and MP, have been in-charge in the first Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Assam assembly elections. His organizational skills are considered important for the party. Panda’s appointment is an indication that the BJP is serious about increasing its penetration in the south and gaining important political place in Tamil Nadu.
Muralidhar Mohol is from Maharashtra (Pune) and has been appointed as an external co-incarnation. Mohol’s administrative experience (former mayor, Pune) and emerging political face will help them to give them the operational strength of the campaign. Their appointment will ensure strategically external approach and balance of local conflicting groups.
In this way, the BJP has prepared its electoral leadership in Bihar, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu based on the balance of efficient, strategic and local and external attitude. It is a clear indication that the party is serious in maximizing its electoral prospects in these states and adopting strategic vision to ensure success in the assembly elections.
