The Atco Tower of Mumbai International Airport is the highest tower in the country, its Umbai is 83.80m.
Monitoring of Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) directly controlling aircraft safety is now being made more hard and transparent. This is how the aircraft fly, how much height will go and when to land.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has prepared six drafts. Their purpose is to ensure quality, transparency and accountability from training institutions to trainers and ATO.
6 Changes: Trainee Air Traffic Officer will not reach control tower without investigation
SCCAL: Student air traffic controller license will be available to the trainee. He will learn the guidance of radar, radio and flights under the supervision of the trainer. Now there will be no access to the control tower without investigation-fitness.
Training Institute: Skill based training and quality monitoring will be mandatory. Institutions will have to give training, quality assurance and annual audit reports.
Logbook: ATCO will have to certify the logbook every month. There will be investigation at the unit level in three months.
Record digitization: All training records of air operators will be digital. The inspection will be quarterly instead of annual.
Charter Flights: All lease agreement and maintenance records will be handed over to DGCA in digital form.
Special flights: Flights like medical evidence, VIP movement and relief will now be allowed in 12 hours from the digital portal.

What is ATCO?
ATCOs ensure safe and systematic flights of airplanes. They instruct pilots on takeoff, landing and air route so that there is no collision or danger.
ATCO is deployed in three sectors-
- Aerodrum control (Controlling flight and landing at the airport)
- Approach control (Controlling airspace around the airport)
- Area control (Controlling the route to long distance flights).

Ahmedabad plane crash, SC said-Discussion of the mistake of the trial regrettable: explore the possibilities of independent investigation
The Supreme Court described the discussions arising about the mistake of the pilot in the plane crash held in Ahmedabad. For this, the court sought a response from the Central Government, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Aircraft Accident Investigation (AAIB) on 22 September. Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh’s bench has also noticed the possibility of conducting an independent inquiry into the matter. Read full news …
