A textile shopkeeper and his employee in Bengaluru brutally beat up a 55 -year -old woman on charges of stealing saris from the shop, whose video was captured by some people standing there in their phone. Now the video of this attack on the woman is going viral on social media. In view of this video that went viral on Thursday (September 25, 2025), the police arrested the shopkeeper and his employee and registered a case.
This barbarity with the woman took place at the Maya Silk Sari shop located on Avenue Road near KR Market. The accused have been identified as the shop owner Umed Ram and his employee 25 -year -old Mahendra Siravi. At the same time, the injured woman Hampamma is a resident of Guntakal in Andhra Pradesh.
Woman stole a bundle of sarees
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the owner of the shop on September 21, 2025, the woman was arrested on charges of theft under Section 303 of the IPC. The theft incident occurred on 20 September, when Hampamma was walking near Maya Silks with a teenage boy. She entered the shop on the pretext of watching saris and stole a bundle of sarees kept near the entry gate.
The owner of the shop came to know about the incident when he saw the bundle missing outside the shop. Umed came to know of theft from CCTV footage. He gave full information about the incident to the police. The next day, on September 21, the woman was seen outside the shop in the same saree, which she wore on the day of theft. Umed and his employee caught the woman.
The owner and employee kicked the woman with a kick
The shop owner Umed and his employee Mahendra beat the woman badly. When the woman fell on the floor, the owner attacked her with a kick and kicked her chest and stomach. Although the people gathered nearby tried to stop Umed, but he kept beating the woman.
Some people present at the scene made a video of it. In the video, the woman is seen apologizing. He told that he had stolen saris to raise money to buy liquor. The person who had given him money took all the saris. After the attack, Umed informed the police about the theft of the call on 112.
Police claims not to know about beating
Hoysala police reached the spot and took the woman to the City Market Police Station. The owner lodged a complaint against the woman. The woman was arrested and produced in court. He has been sent to judicial custody and is kept in the Central Jail in Parappana Agarhara. Umed claimed that the woman stole a total of 61 saris, which costs Rs 91,500. The police claimed that they were not aware of the vandalism that happened to the woman.
At the same time, after this incident, on Thursday (September 25, 2025), pro -Kannada workers gathered outside the shop and started demonstrating. He said that the woman told the police that she had been assaulted, but the police had not registered a complaint against the accused shopkeeper. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) S Girish said that as soon as the information about the attack on Thursday, a case has been registered against Ram and Mahendra and sent to judicial custody.
