We do the film and then the audience wishes whether they are liking the film or not. And this is what I have done in the last 30 years. It looks special because Shah Rukh and I have won it together.

Rani Mukherjee was asked whether he thought that he would ever get this National Award or will never get it again. Rani said, ‘I have always believed in reverence and saburi, which means faith and patience. This is what I have always kept with me. I am grateful to what I get. I am grateful for what you do not get.

Rani Mukherjee thanked Karan Johar after mentioning the film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. He said, ‘Thank God that this film was made. I am thankful to Karan Johar that he gave me the role of Tina in the film. This character has been associated with me for 30 years. People are winning Shah Rukh and my awards that this is our victory of our Rahul and Tina. So it tells me that the public has liked these characters so much that they have not come out of their mind yet. This is a very sweet thing.

It was being said that I would win, but when I did not win, I had focused on work by removing myself from things. I thought okay, even if you do your best work, still do not have things in your rights. I thought do not be disappointed, keep working hard. Maybe you need to do better. And I kept doing this.

Rani Mukherjee told that her father Ram Mukherjee was angry at the actress not receiving the National Award for the film ‘Black’. He said, ‘My Baba’s heart was broken when I did not win that year. And Sanjay (Bhansali) was also disappointed. He was the director of that film. But I think it is when things have to happen. Today, when I came on stage and took my award, then my fans cheer for me. Nothing can be sweet from him.

Rani Mukherjee told that when she came to know about winning the National Award when she thought of her father. He said, ‘The day I came to know about winning the National Award, I was in the room in which he died. I was worshiping. He was very strong in my mind that day. I worshiped and I sat in the chair. My mother was with me. I picked up the phone and I got the news. I told my mother that I have won the National Award and she started crying bitterly. Because she too was feeling Papa’s presence that day. This was a very beautiful moment because my father was with me all day. The news of the National Award was as if Papa has done this. So yes, I missed my father.
