The case was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. The court reprimanded the state government and the CBI. The court had said that despite the full strength of the state and the CBI, two accused have not been arrested yet. This questions the seriousness of the investigation.

The Supreme Court had directed both the accused to arrest by 8 October. The next hearing of the case has been fixed on 8 October. Justice BV on Friday Nagratna and Justice R. Mahadevan’s bench said-

The petition has been filed by Deva Pardi’s mother, in which the court has been accused of contempt of order of 15 May 2025, stating that the two officers should be arrested in a month. The very next day of the hearing, SI Uttam Singh surrendered.

Deva Pardi died in police custody On 15 July 2024, Deva Pardi, a resident of Bilakhedi, died in police custody. TI Sanjeet Mavai of Myana Police Station and SI Uttam Singh were absconding in this case. Both were suspended. A reward of two lakh rupees was also declared against him.

CBI was under pressure to arrest the accused The CBI had told the court that they were investigating the mobile and bank transactions of the accused. Following the Supreme Court order, the CBI was under pressure to arrest these accused soon.

According to sources, suspended SI Uttam Singh’s daughter is going to be married in November, so the family motivated him to surrender. The arrest of Uttam Singh is expected to speed up further investigation into the case.
