Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects worth more than Rs 60,000 crore in Jharsuguda district of Odisha on Saturday (September 27, 2025). Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was also present on the occasion. PM Modi gifted many projects including telecommunication, railway, higher education, healthcare, skill development and rural housing.
The PM inaugurated more than 97,500 4-G mobile towers constructed at a cost of about Rs 37,000 crore from indigenous technology in the field of telecom connectivity. These include towers with more than 92,600 4G technology established by BSNL.
‘Over 900 4G towers will be built’
More than 18,900 4G towers will be built under Digital India Fund, which will connect about 26,700 villages in remote, border and leftist extremism affected areas. These towers will serve more than 2 million new customers. These towers are operated with solar energy, making them a group of India’s largest green telecom towers and are one step ahead of the durable infrastructure.
Odisha’s big gift of PM Modi
Apart from this, PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of railway projects and dedicated them to the nation, which will promote connectivity and regional development. These include the foundation stone of the rail flyover in Sambalpur-Sarla, doubling of Koraput-Baguda line and Manabar-Korput-Gorpur line. These projects will improve the movement of goods and people in Odisha and neighboring states and will also strengthen local industries and trade.
Amrit Bharat Express showed green signal
PM Modi also flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express between Barahampur and Udhna (Surat), which will facilitate traffic between the states. Apart from this, tourism will be promoted and employment opportunities will also be created. Apart from this, he laid the foundation stone for upgrading MKCG Medical College in Barhampur and VIMSAR in Sambhalpur in world class super-specialty hospitals.
