The Madhya Pradesh High Court has stayed the effigy burning of Shurpanakha to be held on Vijayadashami in Indore. Sonam’s mother Sangeeta Raghuvanshi filed a petition on 25 September. Hearing this on Friday (26 September), he ordered a ban. Copy of order on Saturday

Sangeeta Raghuvanshi told the court that preparations are being made to burn the effigy of her daughter Sonam Raghuvanshi on Vijayadashami. Hearing this, the court said that doing so would be completely unacceptable. The court clearly said-
Even though there is a criminal case on someone, but burning his effigy, publicly damaging his image, is against the constitution and law.
An organization named Purush had prepared for burning In fact, an organization named Purush had prepared to burn effigies of women, including Sonam Raghuvanshi in the form of Shurpanakha who are accused of conspiracy to kill husband, child and family.
The institution also built an 11 -faced effigy. One of these faces is also of Sonam Raghuvanshi, accused of King Raghuvanshi murder. Sonam’s family, especially her brother Govind and Raghuvanshi Samaj also objected to this.
Govind had complained to Indore Collector Shivam Verma on Wednesday and demanded to stop the event. At the same time, the institution said that this is not an insult to any woman. On the other hand, Raghuvanshi Samaj objected to the use of ‘Raghuvanshi’ to show evil on public forums.

Bhai Govind’s argument- Sonam is still under case Sonam’s brother Govind Raghuvanshi says that Sonam is being tried in court. He has not been convicted. In such a situation, it is wrong to put his face in the effigy publicly. It is like mental harassment. Govind also said that the event is against the law. With this, Sonam’s image is being tarnished without reason.
After the murder of King Raghuvanshi, Govind initially expressed sympathy to the king’s family. Even the king’s mother met and apologized for crying. It was said that he will help in getting his sister punished. However, now Govind’s attitude has changed. Now he is trying to bail Sonam in Shillong Court.
