Ladakh DGP SD Singh Jamwal has given a big statement defending the arrest of Sonam Wangchuk. He has made shocking claims about Wangchuk. During the press briefing, Jamwal said that violence erupted due to inflammatory speeches of “alleged environmental workers” before the conversation with the Center on 24 September.

He alleged that activist Sonam Wangchuk has done the work of derailing the conversation process. The DGP said that in this violence, about five to six thousand people attacked the offices of government buildings and political parties. During this time four people died and a large number of civilians, police and paramilitary forces were injured.

Accused of obstructing conversation
DGP Jamwal said, ‘The unfortunate incident took place on 24 September. Four lives and a large number of people were injured. Some so -called environmental workers tried to spoil the process. The biggest name is Sonam Wangchuk, who has already tried to derail the process by making such statements.

Foreign link check
When asked about foreign intervention, he said, ‘Two more people have been caught in the investigation. Is it difficult to say that they are part of a conspiracy. Nepali laborers have been working here, so investigation is necessary. The DGP said that it is planned to relax two phases in the curfew.

Jamwal said that investigators were investigating potential Pakistani relations, pointing to the previous visits across the border of Wangchuk and alleged talks with the officials in Islamabad. The DGP claimed, “The plan and coordination were already done,” and emphasized that arrest was necessary to prevent further tension.

Sonam Wangchuk’s arrest under NSA
Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has been arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) and sent to Jodhpur Central Jail. Officials said that he was taken to Jodhpur jail last night after arresting him in Ladakh on Friday. Wangchuk was arrested after recent demonstrations in Leh.
