On this day, take a bath in the morning and clean the house. Clean the temple or worship place of the house with Ganga water and prepare the puja material. Lay a red or yellow clean cloth on a post and install a statue or picture of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu on it. Start worship by lighting incense and lamps. Offer lotus flowers, white clothes and sweets to Maa Lakshmi. Keep kheer on the courtyard or roof on the night of Sharad Purnima, so that it becomes Amritamayi by placing it in the moonlight of the moon.
