Vijay Rally Stampede: ‘Nothing could be done to control the crowd’, the victory was very late from the scheduled time; What eyewitnesses told

An eyewitness said that nothing could be done to control the mob. Nand Kumar said that we were there ourselves. He (Vijay) had said that he would reach Karur by 11 am and everyone was informed about it. In such a situation, it was too late when he came. On Saturday, 39 people lost their lives at the rally of Tamilga Vatri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu.

Everyone wanted to see the star: eyewitness

Speaking to the news agency ANI, the eyewitness said that it is difficult to understand whose mistake is. People were hoping that he would arrive on time. Many people were with children and were also hungry because everyone was excited to see their star. this is very sad. Kumar insisted that such events should be planned carefully.

He further said that even if proper safety measures have been taken, what can anyone do if ten-fifteen times more people come with expected? It was a serious lapse. Such events should be carefully planned. I pray to God that the Tamil Nadu government should provide proper assistance to the affected people.

‘Ambulance could not go inside’

Another eyewitness, Surya told that the ambulance was not able to enter. There was not enough space for people to stand up. It took a long time to get people out. Apart from this, Zakir, a relative of one of the victims, told ANI that Vijay was to come at 9 am, but he did not come at that time. Because of this there was a huge crowd there. Especially Thirukoilure had a huge crowd of youth and women. He further said that women and children should not be brought together in such a program.
