In Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have thwarted the attempt to infiltrate the terrorists. On Sunday (September 28), terrorists who tried to infiltrate in Karen sector were killed in firing of security forces. A senior police officer informed that a group of terrorists were trying to cross the Line of Control (LOC). The security forces immediately took action and during the shootout, two terrorists were killed.
The slain terrorists have not yet been identified. Security agencies say that preliminary investigation indicates that these terrorists were trying to infiltrate Pakistan. A search operation is on to find out his identity and organization.
Search operations continue
Security forces have laid siege to the entire area. Search operation is being conducted in Haider Chowki and its surrounding areas so that the presence of another terrorist can be confirmed. According to local sources, the movement of people around the encounter site has also been banned.
Repeated infiltration attempts
Kupwara and Karan sector have long been witness to attempts to infiltrate. Before winter, terrorists often try to enter the Indian border before snowfall. These efforts are being repeatedly thwarted by the vigil of security forces and frequent operations.
Three terrorists killed
In the encounter on July 29, three militants were killed by the special para commandos of the army on the outskirts of Srinagar. These included Suleman alias Asif, who is considered the mastermind of the Pahalgam attack on 22 April.
Help of Pahalgam attack
Last week, security forces arrested a person from South Kashmir for allegedly providing logistics aid to the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan-based militants killed 26 people in the Basaron Valley of Jammu and Kashmir in April this year, most of whom were tourists.
