Actor and politician Vijay’s Karur rally suddenly caused a stampede on Saturday (September 27, 2025). It killed 39 people, including 10 minors. The victim of this stampede was also two-year-old Vishnu, who was present with his parents at the rally. In this tragedy in Tamil Nadu, he was the youngest child who became a victim of a stampede.
In viral pictures on social media, a father is pleading for help in the hospital with his child in his lap, while a mother was seen refusing to leave a child after the announcement of the death of a child. Actor Vijay has announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for families of 39 people killed in the stampede.

The stampede on Saturday includes Hemlata (8), Saultatsana (8), Sai Jeeva (4), Dhuru Vishnu (2), Sanuj (13), Dharanika (14), Pajhaniamal (11), Kokila (14), Killi (7) and Kishore (17). Apart from these, among the victims, Thamerakannan (25), Sukanya (33), Akash (23), Dhanushkumar (24), Vadivazhagan (54), Revathi (52), Chandra (40), Ramesh (32), Ravikrishnan (32), Priyadarshini (35), Maheshwari (45), Maheshwari (45), Malathi (50), Suti (50), Suti (50), Manikandan (50), Satishkumar (34), Anand (26), Shankar Ganesh (45) are included.
Actor and leader Vijay said in the post on social media ‘X’, ‘I do not have words to tell the pain in my heart, expressing grief about the stampede. My eyes and mind are surrounded by sorrow. The faces of all of you, which I have met, are moving in my mind again and again. The more I think of my loved ones who show affection and care, the more my heart goes away from its place.
20 lakh compensation to those killed in stampede
He further said, ‘I do not have words to say, but I express my deep condolences to the victims. This is really huge damage to us. No matter who gives the words of consolation, the loss of our loved ones is unbearable. Nevertheless, as a member of your family, I intend to give 20 lakh rupees to every family, who have lost their loved one and want to provide 2 lakh rupees to those who are injured and are undergoing treatment.
Sources said about the Karur rally that Vijay arrived late by about seven hours and a crowd of 27,000 people gathered at the venue with a capacity of 10,000. Sources also said that food and drinking water was not arranged at the venue. At the same time, the state government has ordered a judicial inquiry under the chairmanship of a retired High Court judge.
