The Tamil Nadu Vatri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor-turned-actor Talapati Vijay’s Karur rally caused chaos and stampede on Saturday (September 27, 2025). So far a total of 39 people have been confirmed in this horrific accident, including many women and children. Apart from this, several dozen people were seriously injured in this stampede, who are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Eyewitnesses, families and photographs from the scene made it clear how the festive atmosphere was transformed into the most frightening political stampede in a few minutes.
A man Vinod Kumar, who was killed in the accident, said that his entire family had stayed till late night to watch TV chief Vijay, people love Vijay with love as Vijay Mama. He said, ‘It was getting long, but they wanted to see Vijay sir once. At the same time, the power was cut between 7 pm and 7:30 pm on Saturday and the people had suddenly increased just before Vijay Sir’s arrival.
He said, ‘My sister -in -law and her 11 years and 7 years old died on the spot in this accident. Both children were struggling with difficulty in breathing during this time and they separated from their mother. At the same time, in the post mortem report, the cause of his death has been described as suffocation.
After the accident, there was a pile of shoes on the spot and debris
After this terrible accident, there were piles of shoes and slippers at the scene in Karur. In addition, water bottles, torn flags and debris were seen scattered. During the accident, many people fell into the roadside open drains while saving themselves, then some people tried to climb up the high places, but they fell down again. During this time, the police also used lathicharge to control the crowd.
A man said about the incident, ‘People were calling Vijay’s name loudly. In such a situation, many people did not understand that there was a stampede. People kept moving forward with their feet on those who fell down. But when people reached the place of accident in the morning, they were shocked to see that destruction. Karur’s government hospitals were filled with injured, along with the hospital personnel, the police was also busy in the help of the people. At the same time, the families of the deceased people kept crying outside the body all night outside the house.
