The Russian government has decided to declare an emergency situation of federal level in the agricultural sector of the southern Rostov region. According to local officials, crops have suffered heavy damage due to bad weather, which has had a profound impact on the economy of the entire region. In June, Rostov declared regional agricultural emergency due to drought which allows farmers to demand compensation to compensate for losses.
Rostov Governor Yuri Sluser said that the federal level emergency will allow farmers to start a new initiative to support.
He wrote on the Telegram messaging app, ‘We discussed in detail the emergency at the highest level with President and Agriculture Minister Oksana Luut. The first result is an increase in the limit of priority loans. Now the main issue is about 300 existing loans, which will not be able to repay the form.
Loss of 10 lakh hectares of crop
According to the estimate of the local government, this year about 10 lakh hectares of crops in the major agricultural sector have been ruined by drought or cold. This disadvantage is making a direct impact on Russia’s grain production, which is the world’s largest wheat exporter.
