If any organization expands over time, then changes according to time and situation are also natural in it. This also happened to the Sangh. When regular branches of the Sangh started, they had a prayer to salute the birthplace, which was prepared by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar himself with his colleagues. Since in those days, Hindi was spoken in Nagpur by mixing Hindi with Marathi, so this prayer was also originally in Marathi with a few words of Hindi. Changes in the Sangh are not easily done, so till 1939, this prayer continued to be sung in the programs of the Sangh.
There is a connection of Sangh’s prayer to Chhatrapati Shivaji
The change was inspired by the expansion of the Sangh and the royal stamp of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which was in Sanskrit. Anyway, Sanskrit was such a language across the country, which despite all the foreign invaders imposed its languages, not only was the ancient cultural link of India, but also known across the country. In a meeting held in 1939, it was decided that the prayer of the Sangh should be in Sanskrit, but the instructions given in the training or branches of the Sangh, the words of Marathi or English are spoken, should also be replaced by Sanskrit.
The meeting was held in February 1939 at the residence of senior association officer Nana Saheb Talatule in Sindi, 50 km from Nagpur. The interesting thing was that three-three Sarsanghchalak of the Sangh was present in this meeting making such a big decision. One of the then Dr. Headgwar and the remaining two will be held in future. That is, senior Guru Golwalkar and third Bala Saheb Deoras, along with Appaji Joshi, Vitthal Rao Patki, Tatyarao Telang, Babaji Salodkar and Krishnarao Moharil were also present.
In this meeting, first of all in the last 14 years, the works of the Sangh were reviewed in detail, that is, what the Sangh did from 1926 to 1939. After that it was decided to perform Marathi prayer in Sanskrit, the proceedings of Mohite’s Bada branch and Sanskrit scholar Narhari Narayanrao Bhide were given the responsibility that the same according to the instructions of Hedgewar and Guru Golwalkar, he would make Sanskrit translation of Marathi prayer.
It was also decided that whatever Marathi or English words in training or branch instructions will be replaced by Sanskrit words. Actually, earlier Sarisenaists were responsible for initial training. And he was retired from the army, so he initially used words like Attention, Right Turn, March, Halt.

When was the current prayer of the Sangh sung for the first time?
In such a situation, the efforts of Narayan Rao Bhide, ‘Namaste Sada Vatsale Matrubhoomi …’, even after 85 years, there has been no change and it is sung daily in thousands of branches across the country. Even when he translated it, there was no change in it. This prayer was first sung in front of Dr. Hedgewar and Guru Golwalkar in Pune camp. It was sung by Sangh pracharak Anant Rao Kale.
Dr. Ambedkar also came to this camp in Pune. Among the sources associated with the Sangh, it is publicly claimed to be in the Union Education class of Nagpur in 1940. The entire prayer was in Sanskrit, but inside the prayer, the compulsory slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ is in Hindi.
By the way, the original Marathi prayer of the Sangh was:
“Namo motherland
Namo Aryabhoomi Jitelo Mi,
Namo Dharmabhoomi. Ziachyach Kami
Come to the body, always moisture me. “
And it had Hindi posts
“O Guru Shri Ramduta, give us to Shail,
Soon with all the fortunes, free us,
Take us in shelter, we should become Ram Panthi,
Brahmachari Dharma Rakshak, Virvrat Dhari. “
And in the end, Jayaghosh of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s Guru Shri Samarth Ramdas was imposed.
“Rashtra Guru Shri Samarth Ramdas Swamy Ki Jai”.
