Curfew continues on fifth day in Leh, Section 163 of BNSS applied, so far 44 arrested – LEH LADAKH Restrictions Continue Violence Demands Protest Deaths NTC

After the violence in Ladakh (Ladakh) on 24 September, the ban under Section 163 of BNSS in Leh district is still applicable. Under this, five or more people are prohibited from gathering in the district. In addition, no procession, rally or march can be taken out without prior written permission. The deployment of security personnel continues throughout Leh. Four people were killed after the violence that took place recently, and so far 44 people have been arrested in this regard.

The people of Ladakh have been demanding to include the Union Territory in the sixth schedule of the Constitution for a long time. Those arrested include Sonam Wangchuk, who is a prominent worker of this demand.

Wangchuk has been detained under the National Security Act (NSA) on charges of inciting violence and he is currently kept in Jodhpur Jail. He was detained when he ended his hunger strike.

Opposition allegations: result of 5 years of deception

JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra has made a statement on Ladakh protests. Talking to media persons, he claimed that this movement is the result of ‘the last five years of deception and not fulfilling the promises’. Karra alleged that those who are protesting against the government and local administration today are the same people who were used by the government while abolishing Article 370.

Police firing and injuries

Police firing took place on 26 September during the protests, causing deaths. Karra further said that today we want to talk about the issue of a very sensitive and national importance, the situation of Ladakh. He told that four people have already died, and around 90 people have been injured.
