The party said that the Prime Minister needs to learn from the Indian cricket team that when close to victory, good captains do not fight at the behest of a third umpire. Prime Minister Modi said after India’s victory against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final on Sunday (September 28, 2025) that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was done in the playground too and India also won.
Congress retaliation
Pawan Kheda, the head of the Congress media department, posted on ‘X’, ‘Prime Minister, the first thing is not right to compare the cricket match with the war. Secondly, if you have compared, then you need to learn from the Indian team that when close to victory, then good captains do not ceasefire at the behest of a third umpire. Kheda was indicated by US President Donald Trump’s claim in which he had asked for India-Pakistan ceasefire in May.
Asia Cup in a stressful atmosphere
The Asia Cup between India and Pakistan was organized when the border tension between the two countries was at its peak after the death of 26 people in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. For this reason, Indian players refused to join hands with Pakistani players during the entire tournament.
Refusal to take the trophy
After winning the final, the Indian team, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, also refused to take the Asia Cup Trophy PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Naqvi had filed a complaint with the ICC regarding this behavior.
