Dussehra 2025: This year the festival of Dussehra will be celebrated on 2 October. The festival of Dussehra in Hinduism is considered a symbol of the victory of good over evil, hence Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashami. On this day Lord Rama killed Ravana. Although Ravana is not only seen as a demon king, but he was considered the great knowledgeer of the Vedas and rich in immense knowledge. This is the reason that Rama sent Lakshmana to learn important lessons related to life before the death of Ravana.
It is described in the Ramayana that when Ravana was counting his last breath, then Lord Rama told his younger brother Lakshmana that a scholar like Ravana is not another in the world. He has a bottomless store of policy, power and knowledge. Therefore, you should go to him and take teachings related to life. Laxman obeyed Rama’s command and sat near Ravana. Then Ravana told him three deep and precious things of life, which can still be a source of inspiration for every human being.
First learning- auspicious work should not be averted
Ravana told Laxman that whenever you want to do some good work in life, he should do it immediately. Avoiding good works removes opportunities for profit. Human beings never know when his age will end. Therefore, it is intelligent to do virtuous and beneficial tasks immediately. In contrast, the more bad and wrong things can be avoided, the more good for life.
Second learning – Never consider the enemy as weak
Ravana gave the second big knowledge to Lakshmana that no matter how small the enemy is in life and no matter how minor the disease is, they should never be taken lightly. Even a small spark can become a big fire. Ravana had also made a mistake to consider Lord Rama, Lakshmana and the monkey army as weak. This proved to be his biggest mistake and became the reason for his end.
Third learning – should keep your secrets secret
Ravana gave the third education to Laxman that the deep secrets and teachings related to life should always be hidden. No matter how much the front is its own, but sharing everything can be harmful. When this mystery came in front of the enemy, then Ravana’s slaughter was possible.
