Devdutt Padikkal scored 86 runs for Karnataka.
Karnataka defeated Haryana by 5 wickets in the first semi-final of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. The team has made it to the title match of the tournament for the 5th time. Batting first, Haryana scored 237 runs losing 9 wickets at the Vadodara Stadium in Karnataka. Karnataka batted cautiously and achieved the target in the 48th over at the loss of 5 wickets.
Devdutt Padikkal scored 86 runs and Ravichandran Smaran scored 76 runs for Karnataka. There was also a partnership of 128 runs between the two. In the first innings, Abhilash Shetty had prevented Haryana from making a big score by taking 4 wickets. The second semi-final of the tournament will be played between Vidarbha and Maharashtra in Vadodara on Thursday.
Haryana fell apart after a good start Karnataka won the toss and chose bowling at the Kotambi Stadium. Haryana lost the wicket of Arsh Ranga in the 8th over, who scored 10 runs. After them Himanshu Rana and Ankit Kumar took the team’s score beyond 100 runs. Himanshu was out after scoring 44 runs and Ankit was out after scoring 48 runs and the team’s score became 118/3.
After the set batsmen were out, no batsman from Haryana played a big innings. Anuj Thakral scored 23 runs, Rahul Tewatia scored 22 runs, Sumit Kumar scored 21 runs and wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana scored 20 runs, taking the score to 237 runs. Abhilash Shetty took 4 wickets for Karnataka. Prasidh Krishna and Shreyas Gopal got 2 wickets each, while Hardik Raj got one success.
