Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal has demanded from the Election Commission (EC) on Saturday that the upcoming assembly elections should be held in one or two phases. He specifically stated that the face of women voting wearing a burqa should be mixed with their voter ID cards (EPIC), so that only real voters can vote.
Dilip Jaiswal, who is heading the BJP delegation from the Election Commission party headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, also demanded adequate deployment of paramilitary forces in areas where there is a danger of booth capturing and intimidation of voters.
According to the report of the news agency PTI, after the meeting, Dilip Jaiswal told reporters that we have urged the Election Commission to hold elections in one or two phases. There is no need to divide it in several stages. The faces of voters, especially women coming in the burqa, should be matched to their voter ID card (EPIC), so that only real voters can vote.
Dilip Jaiswal said that we have also requested that paramilitary forces should be deployed a few days before the election in villages with high backward classes, such as weaker sections, and a flag march should be organized to increase confidence in voters. Jaiswal said that the deployment of a horse -borne army should also be ensured in the river banks where the incidents of first booth capturing have taken place.
He said that the Election Commission has also given some suggestions for political parties. It states that after the end of the voting, the polling agents are required to take Form 17C from the Presiding Officer. Many times the agents leave their booths without taking this form, due to which there is a possibility of unnecessary dispute later.
Dilip Jaiswal said that in the matter of dates, we told the Election Commission that as per the rules, elections can be held only after at least 28 days than the date of announcement. For example, if the election is announced in a few days, then elections can be held by 3-4 November. He also said that elections should be held as soon as possible and there should be no further delay.
