Something happened in a bogie of Porbandar-Muzaffarpur Express passing through Samastipur Railway Division in Bihar, which brought a smile on the face of every passenger present there. A pregnant woman traveling in General Bogi suddenly started suffering childbirth. As soon as the information was received, the Railways’ TTE and control team became active and safe delivery was done with the help of ANM traveling in the train. As soon as the girl’s Kilkari echoed in the train, the entire box echoed with happiness and thunderous applause.
In fact, a passenger named Wasim was going to Muzaffarpur with his pregnant wife from Jamnagar in Gujarat. Wasim hails from Budhana town in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. When the train reached near Kumarabagh station in Samastipur division, Wasim’s wife suddenly started suffering. It was challenging among limited train facilities.
Passengers immediately informed the train staff and control. As soon as the information was received, CTTI Incharge Rakesh Kumar of Muzaffarpur immediately alerted all TTE. The news reached the TTE team doing duty in the train. During this time it was found that an ANM (assistant nurse midwife) is also traveling in the same train. He was immediately taken to the general bogie.

The view of the general bogie of the train became like an emergency ward of a hospital. A circle was built around the seat and the ANM started preparing for the delivery of the woman. There was a safe delivery in the train for a while. The woman gave birth to a healthy girl. As soon as the newborn’s Kilkari train compartment, the atmosphere was filled with joy. Passengers started clapping. A smile appeared on the face of railway personnel.
After this, the medical team already prepared at Bettiah station boarded the train and examined the mother-child. Both were found healthy. Railways allowed the mother-child to continue the journey. Food and drink materials were also provided to the family from the pantry car of the train.
When the information reached Ananya Smriti, Senior DCM of Samastipur Railway Division, he himself monitored it. The entire TTE team including Rakesh Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Dheeraj Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Ajit Kumar Thakur, involved in making this entire process successful, was congratulated. DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra also appreciated the personnel and said that this is an excellent example of humanity and readiness of the railway.
