The World Para Athletics Championship held in Delhi has revealed great negligence of security arrangements. Two foreign coaches were attacked by stray dogs in the capital’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium complex. At the same time, four security personnel were also cut and injured. BJP leader Vijay Goel said, “This is a blot on the credibility of the country. Is the Supreme Court judges who ordered the dogs to leave the streets open, now take responsibility for it? The country is getting infamous, who is responsible?”
In the first incident, Kenya coach Dennis Maragia was attacked by a dog near the competition Arena, causing a deep wound in her leg and bleeding. After a while, Japan coach Meicumatsu was also bitten by a dog during a training session near the warm-up track.

Both coaches were immediately given first aid in the medical room of the stadium and after that they were taken to Safdarjung Hospital. According to hospital sources, the condition of both is now stable.
Dogs being caught around the stadium
After the incident, the Ministry of Sports, Delhi Government and Municipal Corporation have come into action. NDMC and MCD teams have started campaigning to catch stray dogs in the stadium premises and surrounding areas. Following the incidents, the administration has deployed four permanent dog-catching teams, rapid response units and vehicles in the stadium campus to safely remove stray dogs.
Organizer Committee member Arnav Ghosh said that a special squad has been active since last night after a dog bite incident, which has removed all the dogs from inside the stadium. India is hosting the World Para Athletics Championship for the first time, and these incidents have raised serious questions on the preparations for the event and the safety of the players.

Kenya team representative Joel Atuti said that the player Dennis Maragia was bitten by a stray dog ​​near the call room. Call room is where athletes are present before their event. After the incident, the medical team of the stadium immediately sent them to the hospital and started the necessary treatment.
What is the order of Supreme Court
On August 11, the Supreme Court directed to temporarily keep all stray dogs in the shelter in Delhi-NCR. However, on August 22, the revised order stated that dogs will be released back into their original region after sterilization and vaccination. This rule will not apply to dogs with rabies infected or aggressive nature.
