Heavy rains in Nepal for the last 36 hours have caused havoc. The landslides after the rain and the sudden flood closed the roads, the bridges were swept away and at least 22 people have died. According to officials, many people are still missing and rescue operations are going on.
Nepal Police spokesman Binod Ghimire said that 18 people have lost their lives in the landslides at different places. At the same time, three people have died due to lightning in South Nepal and one person has died due to floods in Udaipur district.

Disaster Management Authority (NDRRMA) spokesman Shanti Mahat said that 11 people have been swept away in floods and are still missing, whose rescue teams are continuously working to search. He said, “Relief and rescue operations are going on continuously, but due to bad weather, it is becoming difficult to reach many areas.”
Many highways closed due to landslides
Officials said that many highways have been closed due to landslides and many bridges have been washed away in floods, causing hundreds of passengers on the way. The administration has taken the help of the army and local teams to take the trapped passengers to safe places.
Kathmandu Airport spokesman Ranji Sherpa said that domestic flights are badly affected, while international flights are currently operating normally.
Kosi river flowing above danger mark
Meanwhile, the Kosi River of South-Eastern Nepal, which causes floods in the state of Bihar every year, is currently flowing above the danger mark, which has issued an alert in low-lying areas.
