Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, Tanmay Srivastava and Ajitesh have played in the Under -19 World Cup. Both were included in the 2008 World Cup winning team. Virat Kohli is still playing cricket while Tanmay and Ajitesh are umpiring.
New Delhi. While Virat Kohli is still playing cricket, his two friends of Under 19 days have become an umpire from cricketer. Tanmay Srivastava, who was an important member of the India Under-19 team, who won the 2008 World Cup under Kohli in 2008, is playing the role of a field umpire in India A’s three-match ODI series against Australia A. 35 -year -old Srivastava and 37 -year -old Argal may return to international cricket once again, but this time he will be seen in the role of an umpire instead of the player.
Virat Kohli’s friend descended as an umpire.
Srivastava also umpiring in the last session of the IPL and before that he also worked with Royal Challengers Bangalore as a talent scout (talent discovery and identifier). Both passed the BCCI umpiring examination in 2023 and they have already umpted in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Australia A series is his biggest charge so far.
Argal’s senior level career as a player was not very good. He could play only 10 matches of first class. Srivastava was a regular member of the strong team of Uttar Pradesh for nearly 10 years and played 90 first class matches. However, he could never submit a claim for the Indian team after age level. The level of domestic umpires in Indian cricket has not been very good for years. This can also be gauged from this that only Nitin Menon is part of the Elite Panel of ICC. Although these are the early days for Argal and Srivastava, both will try to reach the ICC Emirates panel and then the elite panel by performing well.
