Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief on Sunday (October 5, 2025) on the loss of life and property caused by heavy rains in Nepal. He said that India is committed to providing all kinds of help as a friend neighbor and the first to help a country.
At least 40 people have been killed till the morning of Sunday (October 5, 2025) due to landslides and floods due to heavy rains from the night of Saturday (October 4, 2025) at various places in eastern Nepal and five people are still missing.
37 people died in Ilam district of Koshi province
Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has issued a statement in this regard. The authority said in a statement that 37 of these 40 people died in various areas of Illam district of Koshi province due to landslides after heavy rains on Saturday (October 4).
PM Modi expressed grief over the death of people in Nepal
After the huge devastation and landslides in Nepal, Prime Minister Modi posted a post on the social media platform X on Sunday (October 5, 2025). In the post, PM Modi said, ‘Loss of life and property due to heavy rains in Nepal is sad. We are standing with the people of Nepal and its government in this difficult time. He said, “India is committed to providing necessary assistance as a friendly neighbor and the first to respond.”

Lalitpur, Kathmandu, the highest rainfall
The Meteorological Department of Nepal issued a statement saying that most of the districts of Nepal have reduced rainfall, while some parts of Lalitpur district of Kathmandu Valley recorded the highest rainfall. The Meteorological Department said that light to moderately rain continues in many areas in Kathmandu, Morang, Sunsari, Udaipur, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Saralahi, Sindhuli and Ramhechhap districts.
